Melvenpakkam Sannadhi :

There are still thousands of temples across the length and breadth of this holy country, lying unnoticed or not in worshippable state. Swami Vivekanand says that every country has a theme of it's own and for India, it is "relegion". Our temples stand atop as stupendous embodiments & custodians of our culture & heritage. " Temples are not mere buildings. Every temple is a power packed institution, on it's own'', says Mahaathmaa shri.A.M.Rajagopalan Swami. He further writes that," in Tamilnadu, one such temple, which has transcended even the time is the Melvenpakkam Sree Mahalakshmi Samaetha Sree Lakshmi Narayana Perumal temple. The uniqueness of this enviably beautiful Swami is that He has been here since the past three bygone yugas, namely Sathya,Thretha & Dhwaapara and is ruling in this Kali Yuga also". Due to large scale encroachments and massive exploitations in the lands of the temple, there was nobody to do any offering even…but thanks to the Mahathmaas like sri.sri.Mahaaranyam Muralidhara Swamiji, Jyodhisha Chakravathi & Mahathma shri.A.M.Rajagoplan Swami and the humble villagers and the liberal donors from every part of Tamil Nadu, the temple was renovated in 2005 and Maha Samprokshanam was performed in the same year.

The ruling deities have been blessing the devotees since the past 4 yugas.

The ruling deity or the Moolavar is Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal and the female deity (Goddess) is Mahalakshmi (Thaayaar).

Mahalakshmi Thaayaar offers her Seva in this kshethra as a Swathanthra Lakshmi ( as a free Goddess).

Urchava Moorthi is Sree Devi, Bhoo Devi Samedha Kalyana Govindha Raja Perumaal.

The ruling deity's Janma Nakshathram is Uthraadam.

    Vaikaanasa Aagamaa is followed here.

The ruling deity gives darshan facing the north, which means Nithya Sorga Vaasal ( the gates of heaven are open throughout the year).

Swami is a Swayam Thirumeni ( no sculptor has sculpted it and the deity has descended on it's own).

Swami is made up of Salagraamam. ( Salagrama Swayam Thirumeni).

Lord Maha Bhaktha Hanuman Swami is believed to have worshipped this Lord for 3 Mandalas (one mandala is 48 days). This temple is a Sarva Dosha Nivruthi Kshethram. Any potent dosha gets nullified with the grace of the ruling deity Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumaal Swami & Thaayaar.

Perumaal Swami & Thaayaar give Darshan in Aaikkiya Bhaavaa ( in unison). The greatness behind this is that, couples without attraction for each other & are always quarreling between them, if come and worship this deity sincerely, are blessed with Dhaampathya Annyonya ( mutual attraction for each other) and live happily together thereafter.

The Lord Lakshmi Narayana Swami, in order to appreciate & recognise the services of Adhiseshan, has woven him around his neck as a Vaijayanthi Maala and the Adhiseshan gives darshan from the middle of his chest.

Due to the above two reasons, it is believed that any person afflicted with any dosha, as powerful as bramha haththi, will get fully relieved with the very darshan of this Swami and enjoy a great life, free of Rahu, Kethu, Ankaaraaga, Kaala or any other Sarpa Dosha.

A rare sight & blessing in this temple is that Goddess Lakshmi is holding her right hand in the holy thigh of Maha Vishnu symbolising Swathanthram (freedom).

The holy Sri Sooktha Manthra itself is supposed to be ruling here in the form of Goddess Mahalakshmi.

It is believed that all the eight Lakshmis (Ashta Lakshmi) have transformed as one Lakshmi here as Mahalakshmi and showers blessings pertaining to all the eight Lakshmis.

Kanchi Mahaperiyavaa is supposed to be an ardent devotee of this Perumaal Thaayaar and used to enjoy the beauty of this deity, staying in the adjacent Upanishad Brahmendhra Mutt. The people of this village are still fondly remembering those days when H.H.Mahaperiyavaa stayed for three consecutive days in this Sannadhi in 1957.

"......Importantly, marriages getting postponed, being childless and lack of Dhaampathya Annyonya are the three doshas which severely affect one's peace of mind and tranquility. Such harsh doshas get nullified with the very darshan of Melvenpakkam Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swami. It is experienced by many" - Shri. A.M.Rajagopalan Swami.

    Uthraada Homam Performed every month:

On every monthly Uthraada Nakshathram day, a very holy Lakshmi Narayana Nava Kalasa Homam is performed. This homam is aimed at liberating the individuals, especially childless couples, boys & girls whose marriages get postponed and couples without dhaamapthya annyonya, from the clutches of the doshas, due to their past karma. This homa is supposed to remove all the unholy things from our lives(Amangalaas) and replace them with all the mangalaas. Especially for the childless couples, a specially prepared Milk Paayaasam (sanctified by the holy Lakshmi Naarayana Hrudhaya Manthram) will be given at the end of the Homa. Prasadham is distributed from 7.30 am itself. No need to eat food outside. Homam will be over around 2 pm. The uniqueness here is that the sevaarthees themselves utter the sankalpa prarthanaa before the Agni Bhagwaan.

The benefits one draws after attending this holy homa & chanting Sri Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam:

    • Even the poorest of poor gets blessed to become rich. The moment one plans to chant this holy manthra, all his right prayers get blessed.
    • If the holy Sri Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam is chanted 5 times on a Friday, the chanter and the listener are blessed with money.
    • It shall rain gold in the houses of those who chant the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam.
    • If the holy Sri Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam is chanted by even a dullard, he will also be blessed by the Goddess Mahalakshmi Herself.
    • If a specially made & sanctified (by the holy Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam) Milk Paayaasam ( a south Indian milk porridge) is given to a pregnant lady on every Friday, she will be blessed with a child who is as gracious as the Lord Himself/Herself.

This Homam blesses the needy devotees with Santhaana Praapthi, Vivaaha Praapthi, Dhaampathya Annyonya & all holy things in life. Hence, we appeal to all the sevaarthees to attend this holy homa every month & get blessed abundantly by the Chathur yuga Perumaal Thaayaar.

The very dharshan of this holy dhamapthy is a great parihaaraa for boys & girls whose marriages get delayed & causes worry.

    Pillaikkaaragan Swaami:

On every Friday, a specially prepared & sanctified milk paayaasam ( a kind of porridge) is offered to the childless couples as prasad. First, around 8.15 a.m., Thirumanjanam (Abhishekam) is performed for the Perumaal Thaayaar followed by Sahasra Naama Archana. The holy manthra, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Hrudhayam, which can give Santhaana Praapthi, free from mental & physical disabilities and which can give a child as gracious as the Lord Himself/Herself, is chanted in the Milk Paayaasam and is presented as Prasad. Then, the holy Santhaana Krishna moorththam is given in the laps of the couples. This procedure is a very powerful one and is done to offer our request to the Lord Almighty to bless the couple with a child.

    H.H.Mahaperiyavaa:

"........It is a big punya kaingairyam to help a great cause. Whatever money we can give to a temple samprokshana or renovation, we have to give and earn punyaa. If you are going to contribute even a single brick to a temple renovation, it is written in the holy scriptures that, you will live in Vaikunda or Kailaasa, thousand times of the years that brick lies in that temple and that is why, wherever there is a Samprokshana or temple renovation, people volunteer to contribute, saying that, "let my money also be there" and earn punya abundantly. Those who contribute, either live like kings or live as kings in the same janma itself. They will reacquire their lost positions & properties. Their lineage or successors, up to 108 generations, will live a life at par with a king in name, fame & property. They will be adorned as 'Godly' in their lifetimes itself. They will get blessed with Ashtamaa Sidhdhis. Even their successors will get abundant punya and live without any inadequacy. It must be realised that, for the contributors, temple Kaingarya not only helps the living generations but also their dead ancestors who are struggling to attain mokshaa. The temple Kaingaryaa is such an all powerful dhivya tool".

The Melvenpakkam temple renovation & Raajagopura thiruppani is about to begin in a month's time. We appeal to you to help in cash or kind, for this divine cause, which shall benefit not only our present life, our children but also our ancestors.
